Wrexham AFC is seeking a proactive and committed Deputy Ground Safety Officer to support the Stadium Safety and Security Manager in ensuring the safety of all attendees at events held at The Racecourse Stadium. This vital role will help deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality matchday operations in line with SGSA guidance and the Club’s safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and coordinating matchday operations and steward deployment.
- Act as first point of contact for steward and safety staff matters, including welfare, sickness, and discipline.
- Support safety reporting and documentation, including matchday reports, deployment plans, and cost tracking.
- Help implement spectator disciplinary procedures and liaise with relevant authorities when necessary.
- Provide operational support on matchdays and training events, including safety officer cover.
- Coordinate recruitment, training, and onboarding for matchday security and stewarding roles.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety standards across all events and non-matchday operations.
- Liaise with local authorities, emergency services, and the Safety Advisory Group (SAG).
Requirements
- Level 4 NVQ in Spectator Safety (or working towards).
- NEBOSH General Certificate & IOSH Managing Safely.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a stadium or sports ground safety environment.
- Strong working knowledge of the SGSA Green Guide.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Ability to lead under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Welsh (Byddai hyfedredd yn y Gymraeg yn fantais amlwg).
