We are looking for a Waste Transfer station yard Operative to join our team in Hailsham!
Monday to Friday 7.30 - 17.30 with Saturday morning on a rota basis as required.
No experience needed as training will be provided.
The tasks below are intended as a general indication of the main responsibilities of the job..
- Segregation of skip waste to maximise the amounts that can be recycled
- Work closely with machine operators and other reversing assistants to ensure the smooth operation of the facility
- Can be working on a conveyor line sorting waste that comes back into the yard, waste materials can include wood, metal, plastic, concrete, there may be other materials within the waste too
- Maintain the Transfer Station and surrounding area in a clean and safe condition by regular sweeping, tidying and litter picking
- You must remain aware at all times of your responsibilities for your own Health and Safety, for the Health and Safety of those directly responsible to you, your work colleagues and any others who may be affected by the operations under your responsibility or control. You must always ensure that the correct PPE is worn. Please refer to the Health and Safety Policy for further details on your specific responsibilities.
- You must adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy
- Act as a role model at all times in support of the company’s vision, priorities and values.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate for the role. The company reserve the right to include other reasonable duties which are part of, and incidental to, this type of work
- Required to work in cold weather at times.
