Thanks for taking the time to read about this new Warehouse Apprentice opportunity at Martek Marine, a company that has this year celebrated its’ 25th birthday, based next to Dearne Valley College in the heart of Manvers.
- Do you want to start your career in a role where you can learn all aspects and roles within a warehousing environment?
- Are you looking for the next step in your warehousing and logistics career?
- Are you looking for a small close-knit warehousing team as opposed to a colossal warehouse space?
If this sounds like you, then keep reading!
Martek Marine specialises in providing sustainable solutions to the maritime industry to ensure ship safety, efficiency and crew well-being!
This role sits within the warehouse team, and you would be closely working with Daryl, Jonny, Jody, Tom and our current apprentice Mackenzie.
This apprenticeship will cover all roles within the warehouse, alongside undertaking a warehouse course with Barnsley College on a Tuesday.
This role would be great for someone who’s at the start of their career, or equally someone who wants to try something new!
Martek are keen to invest in someone who wants to develop with them and the current warehouse team have all been Martek for at least 5 years. There is a culture of promoting from within, with many success stories across the organization! With the projected growth, it's likely that this 15-month fixed-term apprenticeship could result in a long-term position with us.
A typical week might look like this:
Monday
- Receiving a delivery of goods in and ensuring everything is booked into the system through purchase orders
- Conducting any daily counts on stock to ensure stock accuracy
Tuesday
- Maybe you’ll spend some time undertaking extra training such as Hazards Goods
- The afternoon could be spent in the ‘Goods Out’ department, working from the system to pick daily orders
- Once a month you'll be at Barnsley College for the in person element of the course
Wednesday
- Spending some time shadowing Daryl, so that you can understand the whole process of booking in items, picking orders and sending orders that are dispatched from Martek on a day-to-day basis
- You might spend some time learning how to run basic diagnostics on returned items still under warranty
Thursday
- You might spend a few hours in the morning making sure your apprenticeship portfolio is up to date
- Then you’ll spend the day receiving goods in and ensuring that standards have been met within the warehouse
Friday
- If working in the ‘Goods Out’ department, you’ll ensure weights and dimensions are provided for each order that has been picked
- You might spend some time booking back in any returns that have been received from the week
- As it’s a Friday you’d get to clock off that little bit earlier and go enjoy your weekend
If this sounds like something you would like to be part of, all that we ask of you is that:
- You've high attention to detail
- You're keen to learn and develop
- You're a self-starter and able to use your own initiative
