JOB TITLE: NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER
LOCATION: The Bus Shelter Dorset, Mount Pleasant Park and Ride, Mercery Road, Weymouth, Dorset, DT3 5GD.
HOURS: 12 hour shifts
SALARY: £13.60 per hour
REPORTING TO: Team Leader TBS
JOB PURPOSE
· To be a lead support worker when on duty, taking responsibility for the effective running of The Bus Shelter. This will include maintaining a safe and positive environment in which hope and support is delivered to guests in order to empower them to come off the streets, re-build their lives, and wherever possible to move on into homes and employment.
· To ensure that there is continuity of management of guests in accordance with their individual support plans.
· To be responsible for site security at night.
· To undertake housekeeping chores as agreed.

Here guests receive unconditional, intensive, tailored support in a non- judgmental environment 24/7. We believe that by living in a community where their basic needs are met guests have the opportunity to reflect on their life and future aspirations and can be supported to achieve them.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the night running of The Bus Shelter when on duty, responding to emerging issues as they arise.
- Undertaking housekeeping and cleaning duties as agreed.
- Ensuring that the premises are safely secured and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times in accordance with policies and procedures.
· Updating case management system of all guests at the end of each shift and ensuring that relevant information is communicated to staff and management for inclusion in guest reviews.
- Providing guests with practical and personal support and advice in an approachable, engaging and caring way.
- Ensuring that all guests adhere to the Bus Shelter rules and referring any breaches to the on call manager in order that they are dealt with appropriately, in a fair and timely way.
- Maintaining close and positive relationships with key organisations including the Local Authority and Dorset Police.
- Participating in staff and guest meetings in order that issues and ideas can be openly discussed, and a consistent approach adopted in respect to implementation, resolution and/or the management of the guests.
- Adhering to the policies and procedures of The Bus Shelter as agreed by the Trustees.
Any other duties as discussed and agreed with the Operational manager and/or CEO.

· A flexible approach is required for the role, as additional duties commensurate with the role may occur from time to time

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Academic/Vocational Qualifications
Essential:
Good standard of general education
Desirable:
NVQ in Health and Social care
Basic First Aid Certificate
Fire Safety Certificate
Experience/ Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
Experience of front line working with vulnerable people who have a combination of needs relating to substance misuse, mental health issues or a background of complex trauma.
Confident using IT systems
Effective written and verbal skills and ability to maintain accurate and timely records.
A working knowledge of confidentiality and safeguarding adults.
Desirable:
Awareness of current housing and benefits systems.
Awareness of agencies providing information and advice on matters which may affect the resettlement of guests.
Experience of working in a supported living or residential setting.
Experience of working with vulnerable people at night.

Passionate about supporting and empowering people with multiple and complex needs.
Ability to deal with the emotional content of discussions and constructively challenge abusive, aggressive or discriminatory attitudes and behaviours.
Resilient and have the ability to retain an impartial and non- judgemental approach ensuring that all guests are treated equally and fairly.
Excellent communication skills and confident to liaise with a wide range of professionals and provide advocacy for guests as when required.
Confident to work alone with people who may present challenging behaviour.
Working as part of a team demonstrate an enthusiastic, creative and proactive approach in order to provide the best possible person-centred care.
Demonstrate understanding of challenging behaviour as a support need and have the ability to offer genuine and flexible support whilst respecting and protecting professional boundaries.
Willing to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities when the need arises.
