Trustee – Finance or accountancy experience
Role Summary
St Teresa’s Hospice, Darlington is seeking a passionate and experienced finance professional to join our Board of Trustees. This is a unique opportunity to use your skills to help shape the future of our hospice and make a real difference to your community.
Organisation: St Teresa’s Hospice (independent registered charity)
We are looking for a trustee with a strong background in finance or accountancy and experience at a senior leadership level. You will work closely with fellow trustees and the leadership team to provide strategic oversight, ensure financial sustainability, and help guide the hospice through a challenging and evolving environment.
Important application information:
Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by St Teresa’s Hospice.
Main duties of the role:
As a key member of the board, supporting finance matters, you will:
- Provide oversight and scrutiny of financial reports, budgets and forecasts
- Help ensure robust financial controls and risk management
- Support long-term strategic planning and sustainability
- Contribute to governance, compliance and good decision-making across the organisation
Essential skills/qualities include:
- Significant experience in financial management (accountancy qualification desirable but not essential)
- Significant experience in a senior financial role
- Strategic thinking, integrity and a commitment to our values
- Understanding of charity governance is desirable but not essential
- A genuine interest in hospice care and a desire to make a difference
- Prior board experience is welcome but not essential—we provide a full induction and ongoing support
