We are now looking for a Video Producer to produce, shoot and edit social video content for the Guardian's editorial and marketing channels as part of the Guardian's editorial hub. This role is offered on a 9 month fixed term contract.
You'll have experience of creating video content for social channels for both promotional and marketing purposes - with experience in the podcast space being advantageous. We're looking for someone with a keen eye on the news cycle, as well as a passion for marketing and social content. Experience of optimising video content using tracking analytics and trends is a must, as is experience of innovating with new ideas and formats.
About the Role
- Create and post regular videos and stories to promote some of the Guardian's shows, content and the overall brand, with direction from our audio and marketing teams
- Find, select, edit and post videos across Guardian platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky and YouTube
- Work with talent and producers from the audio team to turn podcast content into gripping social video
- Work with the marketing and audio teams to come up social video strategies for campaigns; brand and editorial
- Assist with optimisation on all Guardian video content - keywords, headlines, video descriptions, geolocating etc. as well as tracking analytics and trends
- Assist with managing and responding to comments
- Spot good news lines and trending topics and plan ahead for major events
About You
- Experience as a video producer, producing, shooting and editing video content for social channels
- Experience of using Premiere pro video editing software
- Experience producing video content in a fast-paced news environment
- Experience setting up and filming in studio and off-site settings
- Experience filming with Sony A 7Siii cameras and iPhones
- A solid understanding of the editorial aims and values of Guardian and an awareness of the needs and interests of the Guardian's audience
- Good news sense and an interest in podcasts
- Proven ability to use data to inform decision-making and news judgement
- An understanding of the evolving ways people consume news video on and off platform
- Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
