Birch Veterinary Centre is thrilled to offer a new opportunity for an experienced, Veterinary Receptionist on a part time basis to join our dedicated team. We are seeking a professional, passionate, and positive individual who demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment in every aspect of their work. You will be part of a supportive team of vets, nurses, and support staff, all working together to provide excellent care and service.
As a receptionist, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the practice. Your duties will include managing the front desk, answering phone calls and emails, greeting both new and existing clients, promoting our Pet Health Club.

Birch Veterinary Centre is well established and has been practicing for over 100 years! Our main branch is located in Oxton with our two other consulting only practices in Moreton and Thingwall. Our Oxton practice is only a couple of minutes away from Oxton Village which hosts a variety of great cafes, shops and restaurants. There are also great connections to Liverpool close by too.
The Skills You'll Bring to Our Team
We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of receptionist experience, preferably within a veterinary practice, with proven excellent customer service skills. You should be highly self-motivated, with a passion for delivering exceptional service. Candidates must be able to commute the branches to cover holiday.
Some responsibilities but not exclusively include:
- Ensure that all visitors to the practice are met in a professional, friendly and courteous manner at all times
- Inform and educate clients, providing excellent customer service at all times, in a professional, sympathetic and courteous manner
- Convert enquiries to appointments wherever possible to maintain pet healthcare.
- Organise appointment diary
- Record, pass on and personally follow up enquires promptly and efficiently
- Add new client details fully onto computer system
- Check/update vaccine/contact details upon each visit or during each phone call.
- Ensure clients pay for services on day of treatment.
- Secure follow up appointments to close a treatment plan fully wherever possible.
- Educate all clients about practice services.
- Promote preventive health
- Keep the reception area clean and tidy at all times, especially ready for the next working day.
Working Hours
This part-time position offers up to 32 hours per week, working 3 days a week Monday – Wednesday, 10:00am – 7:00pm, with the potential for flexibility in the remaining 8 hours, with an hour unpaid lunch break. A minimum of 4 Saturdays a year 8:30am -2:30pm. There are no out-of-hours shifts.
Other hours will be considered for the right candidate.
