Our hospital is seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant to support our team of vets and nurses to provide a high level of patient care. You will be based within our wards department which is a fast paced area of the hospital, that strives to provide the highest level of patient care to our hospitalised patients.

About the role


As a VCA you will be expected to assist the team in daily tasks such as helping to restrain patients for examinations and application of medications, create care plans, assist in maintaining hospital cleanliness, walking dogs, feeding patients and much more. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your animal handling skills and veterinary care knowledge.


Rota


The hours for this role are Monday- Friday with shifts between 7:00am-9:00pm. There are no weekends or OOHs but the successful applicant will be expected to participate in a bank holiday rota and part of that will consist of you working 1-2 bank holidays per year.


Applicant requirements


  • Animal care/ handling experience essential
  • Animal care qualifications desirable but not essential (Training will be provided)
  • Experience of working with a veterinary practice (desirable)
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Must be proactive and have good time management skills (Essential)
  • Passion for providing a high level of patient care
  • Hard working
  • Eager to learn new skills
