Job Title: Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) Machinist – Fanuc Control

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced VTL Machinist with proficiency in operating large Vertical Turning Lathes equipped with Fanuc controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of VTLs to machine precision components to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, programme and operate Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) using Fanuc control.
- Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, job orders, and work instructions.
- Load and secure large components safely using overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Ensure parts are machined to correct dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
- Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, verniers, bore gauges).
- Adjust machine settings and offsets to maintain part quality and consistency.
- Monitor tool wear and change tools as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company HSE policies.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and quality control to resolve any machining or quality issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience operating large VTLs, ideally with 5+ years in a similar role.
- Strong working knowledge of Fanuc CNC controls.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and machining instructions.
- Skilled in using measuring tools and performing quality checks.
- Comfortable handling large, heavy components using cranes and slings (lifting certification desirable).
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Flexible and able to work overtime or shifts when required.
Desirable:
- Experience machining components for the energy, marine, or heavy engineering sectors.
- CNC programming knowledge (G-code) using Fanuc.
- Forklift or overhead crane license.
