Remote | Game Development | Railway Simulation
The Role
All Aboard Studios is looking for a skilled 2d Environment Artist to join our team and help craft immersive worlds for Train Sim World. This role focuses on world-building and scenery development outside the railway boundary, creating realistic urban, rural, and industrial environments that bring routes to life.
As an official third-party developer for Dovetail Games, we work on high-quality railway routes with a commitment to accuracy and realism. If you have experience in real-world environment creation, a strong understanding of Unreal Engine 4.26, and a passion for world-building, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Place assets, paint textures, and populate environments with roads, fences, skylines, foliage, urban and rural scenery.
- Ensure world-building aligns with real-world references and photogrammetry data.
- Work within Unreal Engine 4.26, optimising environments for performance while maintaining visual quality.
- Use landscape sculpting and foliage painting tools to create natural terrain.
- Collaborate with the wider development team and report to the Technical Lead Manager weekly.
- Use Perforce source control to check out and check in files, enabling smooth collaboration across the team.
Requirements:
✅ 2+ years of experience in an environment artist role, ideally in game development.
✅ Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine 4.26 and its environment-building tools.
✅ Ability to create realistic outdoor scenes with existing asset libraries.
✅ Understanding of optimisation techniques for large-scale environments.
✅ Experience working remotely and reporting progress in a structured workflow.
✅ Perforce experience (or willingness to learn).
Bonus Skills (Preferred but not Mandatory):
⭐ Previous experience in train simulation or similar large-scale world-building projects.
⭐ Familiarity with photogrammetry-based workflows.
⭐ Strong technical problem-solving skills for environmental optimisation.

Work on exciting railway simulation projects with a passionate team.
Fully remote role, with all necessary software provided.
A collaborative and flexible work environment.
Opportunities for growth and skill development in a specialised industry.
