Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Transport planner /Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping with planning routes using an app to set jobs for drivers. transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety regulations. This role requires excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of vehicle operation and maintenance.
Duties
- Operate various types of vehicles, including vans transport goods to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working order and report any mechanical issues.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are secured properly for transport.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
- Assist in the warehouse as needed, including organisation of goods.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to interact with team members and customers effectively.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, with a valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type.
- Mechanical knowledge to identify basic vehicle issues
- Experience with vans preferred.
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar transport role is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage time efficiently and meet delivery deadlines.
