Role: (Trainee) Steel Fixer

Location: Chesterton, Newcastle Under Lyme, ST5 6BN
Pay: Competitive rates of pay available subject to candidates experience and skill set. Rate of pay will increase following satisfactory performance.
Working hours: 8:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday with two 30 min breaks. 40hrs a week. Overtime available during the week paid at 1.5T.

Due to continued growth and investment, we are looking to strengthen our steel fixing team and therefore seeking a (Trainee) Steel Fixer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has some experience or interest in steel fixing and is eager to take on necessary training to become fully competent.
The job purpose is to:
- Assist an experienced steel fixer in production of reinforcement cages according to the specific detail drawing and/ or engineer’s calculation or description
- Tie together steel bars and mesh
- Use steel cutters and do some hand bending in order to create non – standard shapes
- Work alongside the casting team in setting up cages in the moulds for more complex components
- Work to tight tolerances and accuracy
- Follow all health and safety regulations
