We have an opportunity for a Press Brake Operative to join our innovative and diverse team. To be successful within the role, you will need to have good communication skills; a positive can-do attitude; be able to work in a fast-paced industry; and, most importantly be respectful and trustworthy.
As a Press Brake Operative, you will be responsible for the accurate operation of press brake machinery to fabricate, shape, and form metal panels and components according to specific designs. Your work will directly contribute to the production of high-quality access panels for various industries, ensuring safety, precision, and consistency throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation: Operate press brake machinery to bend, cut, and shape metal sheets into access panels and components according to production requirements.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet company quality standards and specifications. Perform routine checks for accuracy in dimensions, alignment, and material consistency.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately set up the press brake for each production run.
- Setup & Programming: Set up and adjust press brake machines, including selecting the appropriate tools. Program the press brake for each job as necessary to achieve the desired results.
- Maintenance: Conduct basic maintenance on press brake machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and checking for worn-out parts. Report any major issues to the Production or Health & Safety Manager.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, and following company procedures to prevent accidents.
- Material Handling: Safely load and unload metal sheets and other materials into the press brake using appropriate handling tools and techniques to avoid damage or injury.
- Production Efficiency: Work with the production team to maintain a steady workflow, ensuring that production targets are met within specified deadlines. Highlight potential bottlenecks or delays to supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience - Desired but not essential:
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of metalworking processes.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations.
- Prior experience in access panel or similar component manufacturing.
- Experience operating press brake machinery in a manufacturing environment.
Physical and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in standing positions for extended periods.
- Factory/Workshop environment with exposure to welding fumes, heat, and metal dust.
- PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, safety boots, and other protective gear, is required at all times.
- Regular working hours with the possibility of overtime to meet production demands.
What we can offer you:
- Starting salary of £12.21, which will increase to a competitive salary once fully trained.
- Performance Related Bonus (PRB) of £216.67 per month - Based on Attendance, Punctuality, PPE Compliance and Housekeeping. Will increase to £250 after successfully completing probation
