Job Summary
We are seeking a number of enthusiastic Tour Guides to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a passion for walking, talking and sharing local knowledge with visitors. As a Tour Guide, you will lead groups on engaging and informative tours, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants. Your ability to communicate effectively in English and connect with diverse audiences will be essential in delivering exceptional service.
Tour - Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park
The tour we are hiring for is approx. 2 hours long ending in refreshments at one of the cafes in the park and will take visitors through the history, sites and attractions that Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park contain.
Duties
- Conduct guided tours of various locations, providing insightful commentary and engaging storytelling.
- You will have the opportunity to shape a couple of preferred route options.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of tour participants throughout the duration of the tour.
- Answer questions from participants and provide additional information about sites visited.
- Collaborate with other team members to enhance the overall visitor experience.
- Stay updated on local history, culture, and current events to provide accurate information.
- Work well as part of the Tour Guide team.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience as a Tour Guide or in a public-facing role is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage audiences of all ages.
- A qualification in history or keen interest in local history / sites is advantageous.
- A friendly outgoing disposition with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Sales and marketing skills to ensure minimum attendance and ongoing promotion of tours.
- The stamina to be on your feet and cover the parks walking.
- Punctuality is essential, you will be present at the meeting point before the tour.
- Being located near the Hyde Park area of London is advantageous.
Pay & Benefits
- Flexible part-time hours with the opportunity to select shifts and cover shifts in a of team of Tour Guides.
- You have the option of eating with the visitors at the end of the tour, where your food & drink will be included additional to your pay, reimbursed as expenses.
