About the Role
Southwark Council is seeking a proactive and organised Technical Support Officer to join their Cleaning Management Team. This role plays a vital part in supporting operational services including cleaning, grounds maintenance, and tree services by providing high-quality administrative and technical support.
The ideal candidate will be efficient, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling a range of administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, office-based role located at Southwark Council’s offices on Sandgate Street.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support: Deliver day-to-day administrative assistance for the Cleaning, Grounds Maintenance, and Tree Services teams.
- Data Entry & Document Management: Input and process data accurately, maintain records, and manage filing systems (both digital and physical).
- Mail Handling: Conduct mail merge tasks, distribute incoming post, and prepare outgoing correspondence.
- Internal Communications: Liaise with other council departments to obtain or provide required information.
- Customer Service: Engage with customers, contractors, and internal teams in person or via email/phone, including providing cover for the Commercial Waste Services team.
- Correspondence: Draft and initiate routine correspondence when needed.
- Workshops & Presentations: Assist in preparing presentation materials and provide support in running internal workshops or meetings.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in an administrative or clerical support role.
- Possesses strong organisational and time management skills.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office tools (especially Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Can work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Thrives in a team environment and is comfortable dealing with colleagues and the public face-to-face.
Reporting Line
You will report directly to the Technical Support Team Manager.

Work Environment
This position requires full-time attendance in the office (5 days per week) at our Sandgate Street location.
