The Albex Group is a collection of Food production and Storage and Distribution companies across the Industrial and consumer sectors. Albex Group Services is a Technical Services provider for the Albex Group, providing support for all companies in relation to Food safety and Quality requirements.
We are looking for a Technical Lead covering our Industrial sector companies, they will be responsible for managing the Technical team based at our Head Office as well as providing Technical support to our warehouses across the UK and industrial production facility based in Leeds.
All sites are BRC certified (for Food and Storage and Distribution), therefore a strong background in maintaining this certification is essential. The person will have a close relationship with each member of the Technical Team and individual site managers, providing support and ensuring that high food safety standards are achieved and maintained. Visiting sites across the UK is essential to ensure that standards are being met, therefore an ability to travel is also essential.
You'll have the skills and knowledge to manage and develop technical strategies, being the forerunner of continuous improvement, a confident communicator, ability to manage third-party relationships, without compromising on food safety, delivering excellence and high standards in quality and service.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading all onsite audits across UK and the Netherlands (Customer, BRC, Halal, kosher)
- Provide Leadership and Management of direct reports, ensuring they are delivering at their optimum with effective development plans.
- Provide a proactive approach to developing the overall Food Safety, Quality, GMP, BRCGS, H+S and customer standards through leading improvements and compliance.
- Be an Active member of Group Technical Senior team to develop Group standards and the overall Technical Strategy
- Ensuring the QMS is maintained at each site, implementing group policies and procedures
- Keep up-to-date with developments in food safety and legislation, ensuring that we’re aware of and prepared for change
- Monitor and develop the sites HACCP and site standards
- Ensure effective investigation of out of specification results in conjunction with the individual site managers
- Participate in Management meetings
- Promote positive food safety culture
- Assist in NPD projects
- Ensure that our products (for UK and international markets) are compliant in regard to ingredients and labelling
- To ensure the Technical Systems are established and effective and communicate gaps to the Technical Team and support operations to reach their full capabilities
- Key point of contact for Management of change and projects on site for Technical sign off.
- Ensure there is an effective plan to validate change and ongoing verification in place.
- Assist Group Technical Manager with any adhoc activities
Key Measures
- External audit performance – maintain minimum BRC grade A at all sites
- Internal audits completed in line with schedule
- NPD / EPD projects to facilitate a smooth implementation incorporating site technical requirements.
- Responsible for driving the Site Food Safety & Quality Culture.
- Proactively influence all levels to deliver the sites Quality & Food Safety Strategy.

· Working experience in food industry and proven knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards such as BRC.
- Actively led BRC or equivalent Food audit is essential
- Minimum Level 3 HACCP is required
- Proficient IT skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc…
- Time management and problem-solving skills
- Internal auditor training
- Full clean driving license
- Ability to support individuals and/or teams to deliver an agreed output within clear timeframe
