Location: Community-based in Greater Manchester, primarily within Oldham
Service Type: Community-based services for adults and young people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Complex Needs
Reports to: Outreach Manager
Job Type: Full-time, permanent role
Contracted hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,325.00 per annum (£13.50 per hour) plus opportunities for additional hours and on-call duties
About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Team Leaders to support the development and day-to-day management of our new services. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping high-quality, person-centred care and support for individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs in a community setting.
As a Team Leader, you will work closely with the management team to ensure services are delivered effectively, safely and in line with regulatory and organisational standards. You will be responsible for supervising a team of support staff, leading by example and fostering a positive and inclusive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the service manager in overseeing the daily operations of the service, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Ensure that high standards of care and support are consistently delivered, promoting safety, dignity, independence and inclusion.
- Provide direct supervision, guidance and mentoring to a designated group of staff. Conduct regular supervisions and performance reviews.
- Lead shifts across a flexible rota, including weekdays, weekends and evenings. Participate in the on-call rota as required.
- Promote effective communication across the team. Support staff in managing communication difficulties experienced by individuals in our care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to audits, reviews and care planning.
- Complete all mandatory and service-specific training. Support the induction and ongoing development of staff.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of safeguarding principles and practices. Act promptly to protect the individuals we support.
- Uphold professional boundaries and act as a positive role model for colleagues.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 24 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs (including children and/or adults).
- Strong understanding of communication challenges and ability to support staff in this area.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide effective support.
- Familiarity with required documentation and ability to complete audits.
- Knowledge of safeguarding protocols and ability to respond appropriately.
- Understanding of professional boundaries and a commitment to best practice.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills.
- Willingness to work flexibly across a 7-day rota and participate in an on-call system.
Desirable
- Relevant health and social care qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or above).
- Experience in a supervisory or team-leading role.
- Experience working within CQC-regulated services.
