POST: Teaching Assistant 2 days a week

SALARY: OCL Scale 4-8 (£24,404 - £25,992) Full Time Equivalent

ACTUAL SALARY: Scale 4-8 (£8,396.48 - £8,942.85) per annum [ Term Time Only + INSET Days)

LOCATION: Oasis Academy Marksbury Road

WORKING PATTERN: 8:00-16:00 Mon-Thu & 8:00-15:30 Fri

JOB PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the teacher, to support effective teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of students.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Deliver classroom support for students planned with and supervised by teachers to promote independent learning.

B. Work with teachers and teams to differentiate teaching resources, materials and delivery

C. Participate in planning, evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behavior

D. Support the teaching in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress/activities

E. Assist in the creation, development and review of individual pupil development plans (such as Education and Health Care Plans (ECHP))

F. Provide feedback to students in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher

G. Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher

H. Support students in social and emotional well being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate

I. Liaise with appropriate external agencies and parents and carers as required

J. Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all students as required.

K. Invigilate exams and assessments

L. Assist in escorting and supervising students on educational visits and out of school activities

M. Select, prepare and clear away classroom materials and learning areas ensuring they are available for use, including developing and presenting displays

N. Support students in developing and implementing their own personal and social development

O. Assist students with eating dressing and hygiene as required, whilst encouraging independence

P. Participate in staff, team and planning meetings.

Q. Supervise students between lessons and when entering and leaving the Academy site

R. Monitor and manage stock and supplies for the classroom

S. Subject to receiving appropriate training, to contribute to the Academy’s First Aid provision.
