Teaching Assistants, SEN Royal College Manchester, Rated Outstanding

Location: Cheadle Hulme, SK8 6RQ, onsite daily.

Full-time equivalent salary: £23,810 per annum + benefits

Actual take home salary: £18,975 per annum + benefits

Hours of work: Mon to Fri, 8.30am to 4.00pm

Working pattern: Term time only (44.4 weeks), 35 hours per week

It’s an exciting time to join Seashell. We are part way through one of the largest transformation projects of its kind in the UK. Seashell support children and young people with complex learning difficulties, disabilities, and additional communication needs. Seashell is currently part way through a £50 million pounds site transformation with our brand-new college set for completion late next year.

Seashell has an amazing opportunity to join us as a College Teaching Assistant (known on site as a Learning Support Assistant) for our specialist Ofsted Outstanding Royal College Manchester. You will start in the existing college building moving to the brand new, state of the art college upon completion of the new build. This role shall be supporting students aged 19 to 25 years old to live their best lives and help us continue to provide high quality education and care. This role is to start from Jan 2025.

To be successful in the role you’ll need:

Learning Support Assistant Role Outline:

Based on site at Ofsted Outstanding RCM, Cheadle Hulme, you will work on a one-to-one basis supporting the day-to-day learning of the students within the college and providing any other support they may require through the day. The students in the college are aged between 19 and 25 years old. The role shall include

Assisting the teacher with planning and preparation of resources and programmes including differentiation for the individual needs of learners in the class/group

Actively support all students in the full range of curriculum activities across the college/school including but not limited to:

Working with students with Autism, multi-sensory impairments, physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties and those with non-verbal communication needs, to enhance their communication skills, social skills, ability to think flexibly and to problem-solve.

Supporting students with challenging behaviour, personal care and supporting those with physical disabilities. Some students may require support from mobility aids and disability aids including hoists and wheelchairs.
