Teaching Assistants Wanted for New Independent School in Todmorden
Location: Pennine, 182 Burnley Road, Todmorden. OL14 5LB
School Opening: September 2025
Positions Available: All levels of Teaching Assistants, including HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistants)
Contract Type: Full-time (27.5 – 33 hours a week)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people who need support beyond mainstream education? We’re opening a brand-new independent school in Todmorden for children aged 10 to 18 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs—and we’re looking for dedicated, compassionate, and resilient Teaching Assistants to join our founding team.

Roles Available
We are recruiting for:
- General Teaching Assistants (Level 2 and 3)
- Specialist SEMH Teaching Assistants
- Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA)
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in:
- Supporting children and young people with SEMH needs
- Working in alternative provision or specialist settings
- Delivering interventions and supporting learning across a range of subjects
- Building trusting relationships and promoting positive behaviour
Minimum Requirements
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
- Experience working with children or young people, especially those with additional needs
- A clear DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
Recommended Qualification
- Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (Level 2 TAs)
- Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Level 3 TAs)
- HLTA Status (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) – for those taking on more responsibility, including leading lessons under supervision
