We’re Homes Plus Care Ltd (Progressive Mews), a care service in Colchester and
we provide a range of care and support services for our tenants, some of
whom have Learning Disabilities. Our main priority for this job role is to find people with the right values, behaviours and attitudes that match our own! We’re seeking to
recruit some great new support workers; people with the right values and
behaviours to work in our care service – could this be you?
We provide support to adults with Autism and/or a learning disability (some tenants may have behaviours that challenge) within their own flats or shared accommodation to live as independently as possible and to live the lives that they choose.
Daily duties (more in full job description)
- Arts and crafts, dancing, music, football, bowling and going to cinema.
- Supporting tenants in leisure, education, and employment services inside and outside of the home.
- Supporting tenants to make and attend any health or wellbeing appointments.
- Supporting tenants as much as possible to undertake household chores, including planning and preparing meals.
- Assisting tenants in maintaining their personal hygiene where necessary.
- Support with food shopping, gardening, pottery.
- Giving medication as required.
- Supporting tenants with emotional needs when displaying behaviours that challenge.
- Completing written reports and notes.
- Providing physical, emotional, spiritual and social support to tenants.
- Working closely with staff and tenants in promoting individual packages of care that reflect the person's chosen lifestyle.
Hours
We are looking for a full time staff member (45 hours). Our shifts begin at 8am and finish at 11pm. They will be required to work every other weekend. We also require this person to do sleep in shifts which are paid as overtime.
Pay
£12.45 per hour
£70.85 per sleep in shift
Skills
- Experience in supported living or other care environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of care practices, including first aid, health & safety and safeguarding.
- Ability to administer medication safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and schedules.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients when required.
