Please note that it is an essential requirement of this role that the post holder be a driver with a full, clean, UK driving Licence.
Do you want to join a team that provides a person-centred service to enable the people we support to live a fulfilling life?
We have an exciting opportunity available in Longwell Green. Bath Road is a small residential service for 6 individuals with Learning Disabilities. The small size of the service enables the staff team to develop close and supportive relationships with their colleagues in this long-standing staff team, as well as the individuals living at Bath Road.
The people we support at this service are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, kind, caring, supportive, flexible to meet their needs, adaptable to change and who likes to spend time doing activities (both inside and outside of the service).
You might be new to Social Care and have life experiences and a variety of skills and abilities which will benefit the people who live at Bath Road. We will be committed to ensuring you have the training and mentoring required with the induction into this role. This Support Worker role will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge and become a vital part of the changing service.
Hours are worked on a shift rota pattern and will include some weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Shift patterns are 07:00-14:30, 14:00-21:00 and 20:45-07:15.
As a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
• To encourage and enable the people we support to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, signposting as appropriate, and to develop a positive self-image and maintain good health
• To support individuals to develop relationships and maintain contact with family and friends
• To provide the people we support with the agreed necessary support to maximise their independence and to develop social and life skill
• Medication competency (you will be given support and training to obtain competency) be able to recognise health issues and to attend health appointments is vital, as each person has current health needs that need to be observed and reacted to when needed
• Be able to support people with their personal hygiene needs and have some understanding of non-verbal communication
• Be an enthusiastic and energetic member of the team

The successful Support Worker will:

• Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, people we support and a range of stakeholders
• Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature, experience within the sector is not essential as we will provide you with training required to carry out your duties
• Due to the location of the home and the need to access activities within the local community, it is essential that staff can drive.
• We need you to be IT literate to use digital care plans and medication systems and attention to detail is vital

At Milestones Trust we recognise that without the hard work, commitment and passion of our staff, we wouldn’t be the charity that we are today. In return, we are committed to rewarding you with a competitive pay and benefits package including:
• 30 days annual leave entitlement
• Company pension scheme, with Milestones matching employee contributions up to 3% to help grow your retirement pot
• Learning and development opportunities to help you to build your career, including a comprehensive induction programme, and the opportunity to undertake further qualifications
• Health Cash Plan on completion of probation giving you access to a minimum of £695 cash back for health treatments e.g. dental, therapies, optical, maternity/paternity, NHS prescriptions etc.
• Generous Occupational Maternity/Paternity pay
