This is a care and support role in a small, friendly and relaxed extra care housing scheme comprising of 2 buildings, 21 supported living residents and a brand new development comprising of 25 apartments ), approximately 16-37 hours per week, working on a rolling rota. There is always opportunity to pick up extra shifts to cover annual leave and sickness.
Night shifts are primarily to provide overnight emergency cover.

Support assistants meet the care needs of the residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and encourages their independence. We try to maintain a balanced community, so not all residents are in need of care support.
Ideally qualified to minimum NVQ2 (or equivalent) and with some experience of working with older people. However, you may be new to Care work and we will support your training and development to achieve nationally recognised qualifications. An enhanced DBS is required for this position.
Compassionate, caring, honest and reliable, with good communication skills are the important qualities that we look for in our staff.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To assist residents who need help with getting up in a morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and using the toilet.
- To help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence and help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
- To administer medication as recorded.
- To care for residents who are temporarily sick and need, for example, minor dressings, help with feeding and occasionally help provide end of life care.
- To assist in the preparation, serving and clearing of meals.
- To liaise with resident's relatives.
- To carry out support planning, care planning needs and risk assessments and record outcomes, under the guidance of the Care Manager.
- To assist in organising professional help for residents (eg GP, district nurse etc) under the direction of the Care Manager.
- To respect the dignity and privacy of residents at all times, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- To make and change beds, tidy rooms, carry out light cleaning, clean en-suites and empty commodes. Also ensuring that a consistently high level of cleanliness is maintained within the communal areas of the building.
- To carry out other domestic duties as required in a resident's domestic care plan.
- To launder house linen and other laundry requirements of the residents.
- To ensure the safety of the house by working within Health & Safety policies.
- To complete all relevant documentation.
- To undertake relevant training as directed.
- Accommodation support, reporting repairs.
- Facilitating activities/events encouraging socialisation and stimulation.
