Support Worker Needed – For Our Amazing 20-Year-Old Son
Hi there,
We’re looking for a kind, compassionate, and committed support worker to join our little team – someone who genuinely cares and wants to make a difference in one incredible young man’s life.
Our son is 21, full of personality, laughter, and love for life. He also happens to be a full-time wheelchair user and needs a bit of extra help to live his life to the fullest. We're looking for someone who gets it – who sees this as more than just a job and brings heart, patience, and purpose every day.
What we’re looking for:
- Someone with experience (or training) in personal care, hoisting, and Level 4 feeding
- Comfortable with light housework (keeping his space clean and safe)
- Willing to be hands-on and supportive with hydrotherapy swims (every other Thursday)
- Most importantly, someone who can help make every day fun – from days out to little adventures, whether it’s the park, a café, or just listening to music together at home
Your hours would be:
- Monday to Wednesday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
- Every other Thursday: 9:00am – 12:30pm (for hydrotherapy sessions)
- No weekends, and rostered bank holidays off (we all need a break!)
What we are looking for
- Someone with experience supporting people with complex needs, especially cerbral palsy
- a non-smoker
- Physically fit (you'll be helping with personal care, transfers and physio program)
- Own car for commute essential.
We’re a warm, easy-going family who believe in kindness, laughter, and giving our son a full, joyful life. If you’re someone who feels called to care, who loves to connect with others and sees the person before the disability, then we’d love to hear from you.
Please note: This is a role best suited for someone with a strong sense of responsibility, emotional intelligence, and the ability to adapt gently to different needs throughout the day. Experience in complex care is important – but heart and the right attitude matter just as much.
If this sounds like something you’d be great at – or even if you’re unsure but feel a spark – please reach out. We’d love to meet you.
Warmly,
A caring mum just wanting the best for her son
