The role:

This Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Sales Support role at Lonza is an exceptionally outstanding opportunity to influence large-scale projects, fortify the sales pipeline, and seize ambitious growth prospects. Collaborating closely with sales teams, this position is dedicated to high-value account acquisition and expansion while managing substantial accounts in Cell Biology and Transfection.

By rigorously gathering and communicating pivotal market trends, competitive activities, and customer insights, this role informs strategic decisions and improves Lonza's market positioning.

This position is ideal for those determined to drive key initiatives to elevate sales and who have a proven track record of elevating customer engagement and success!

Please note that this role will include 50% travel

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop lasting connections with customers and key collaborators.

  • Serve as a trusted adviser, driving deal closure through consultative selling.

  • Represent the company at conferences, symposia, and webinars.

  • Identify cross-selling and next-sale opportunities within customer workflows.

  • Address complex technical inquiries for strategic accounts, providing innovative solutions and ensuring blocking issues are resolved effectively.

  • Support field technical activities for Cell Biology and Transfection product lines as needed.

  • Empower the sales team with specialised training, co-travel support, and technical expertise to win key accounts and increase market penetration.

  • Lead and complete sales campaigns, delivering impactful product demonstrations, installations, and customer training sessions to secure new business.

  • Equip sales teams with tools, insights, and training to improve performance.

  • Align sales collateral, messaging, and go-to-market strategies with market demands.

Key requirements:

  • Strong academic background, preferably in a scientific field.

  • Knowledge and experience in cell culture, primary cells, molecular biology, transfection, and biotech/biopharma industry drug discovery/development.

  • Knowledge and experience in drug discovery, drug manufacturing, Cell & Gene Therapy, and the biotech/biopharma industry.

  • Sales and/or technical support experience.

  • Communicates effectively and collaborates successfully within own team as well as cross-functionally.
