SupaJam is a music focused post-16 Specialist Provider, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged 16 - 25 year olds across our four bases in Wandsworth, Swanley, Canterbury and Brighton.
The majority of our students have a variety of social, emotional or special educational needs, or have previously disengaged from mainstream education.

We teach theRSL Music Practitioners Diploma (business pathway) at levels 1, 2 and 3. To continue the growth and educational excellence of the organisation we are nowseeking an additional Student Progression Support Advisor to join our team.Answering to the Careers Lead , this role will be an integral part of our organisation asthey provide exceptional support to students, helping them to see their future beyondSupaJam.

Our Mission
To help vulnerable young people who have previously fallen out of formal education to engage, achieve and progress in a unique, inclusive learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Book in follow up careers sessions to support final year students with completing actions set in careers guidance sessions
Supporting in researching next steps and opportunities relating to careers aspirations/student needs (a lot of information already provided on contacts database)
Encouraging participation with SupaJam careers activities (WEX, events, lessons etc)
Encourage student to use of Xello profile for documenting and researching
Supporting student to make email enquiries and phone calls regarding next steps/WEX enquiries
Support in sourcing WEX placements
UCAS applications and personal statements (Careers Lead can still support when needed)
Respond to 1:1 employability support requests such as CV writing, interview skills, applications and job searching and book in sessions. (currently low volume of requests)
Attend NEET intervention meetings of those students identified as being at risk of NEET to input and support with next steps. (term 3 onwards - could be covered by attending student success plan meetings)
Add new contacts and opportunities to Industry contact and pathways database.
Contact Alumni students 3 x per year to check in and gather destinations data. Refer those needing extra support to Careers Lead.
Use of Compass + to log careers activity you have planned and or completed with students
Keeping accurate records of careers support sessions
Person Specification
Essential
- A strong desire to help disadvantaged young people thrive and achieve.
- Enthusiastic about understanding the needs of the students.
- A willingness to learn new skills, take on additional responsibilities and work as part of a team.
- Ability to identify potential barriers to learning and jointly engage in strategies to overcome these barriers displaying resilience and commitment.
- Ability to work effectively with, and command the confidence of, teaching staff and senior management within SupaJam.
- Ability to be proactive and able to work in stressful, fast-paced environments - resilience is key!
- A great sense of humour, endless patience, be friendly and approachable with the ability to engage with young people on their level.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS.
Desirable
- Previous Teaching Assistant experience.
- Previous experience working with young people with SEND.
- The ability to play musical instruments.
- A basic understanding of how the music industry works.
