Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Steel Erector to work on a site in Swindon. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of iron and steel structures. This role requires a strong understanding of various construction processes and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Ironworker will collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
Duties
- Install and assemble structural steel frameworks for buildings, bridges, and other constructions.
- Perform welding tasks to join metal components securely.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for cutting, shaping, and finishing metal materials.
- Conduct heavy lifting and manoeuvring of materials as required on-site.
- Collaborate with carpenters, masons, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the installation of roofing systems as needed.
- Demonstrate mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues on-site.
Skills
- Proficient in welding techniques and practices.
- Strong experience with hand tools and power tools relevant to ironworking.
- Solid mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand blueprints and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with carpentry principles is advantageous.
- Experience in roofing installations is beneficial.
- Capability for heavy lifting, as the role involves moving substantial materials regularly.
- A valid commercial driving licence is preferred for transporting materials when necessary.
