Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality clinical care in the Emergency Department (ED) as a Locum Specialist Registrar. The postholder will assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of emergency presentations, supervise junior doctors, and contribute to the safe, effective, and timely management of patients in the ED.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties:
- Provide timely assessment and management of patients in Majors, Resus, Minors, and CDU.
- Triage high-acuity cases and initiate life-saving interventions where required.
- Liaise with senior clinicians to escalate complex cases.
- Request and interpret investigations such as imaging and laboratory tests.
- Provide clinical input into admission or discharge planning.
Supervision & Teaching:
- Supervise and support FY1/FY2, GPVTS, and SHO/CT-level doctors.
- Participate in bedside teaching and clinical discussions.
- Offer guidance to nursing and allied health professionals.
Operational & Governance:
- Ensure clear and comprehensive documentation of clinical care.
- Adhere to hospital and departmental protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, incident reporting, and learning reviews as appropriate.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
Person Specification: Essential Requirements:
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- Minimum ST3-level experience in Emergency Medicine (UK or equivalent)
- Valid ALS and ATLS certifications
- Recent experience working in NHS A&E departments
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance
- Excellent communication, clinical decision-making, and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- MRCP/MRCEM/FRCEM qualifications
- Experience in a teaching hospital
- Previous locum or agency experience

Pay: £60.00-£80.00 per hour
