Participate in clinical supervision, MDT meetings, and team discussions to manage complexity and ensure consistent, high-quality care. Triage referrals, respond to patient queries, and deliver post-diagnostic psychoeducation. Communicate complex clinical information effectively and uphold professional development through ongoing learning and appraisal. This role will comprise a blend of remote and face to face assessment for patients.
MAIN DUTIES The Specialist ADHD Practitioner Assessment will; Assess adults for ADHD in keeping with West Yorkshire ICB Quality Assessment Standards, considering differential and/or co-occurring conditions to make diagnostic decisions. You will work autonomously, utilising and adapting your approach as needed to cater for additional complexity. Where necessary, you will be responsible for liaising with colleagues to reach diagnostic conclusions. Perform patient risk assessments and review safeguarding needs as required throughout the patient journey.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records and associated clinical templates, adhering to professional requirements for accurate record keeping. You will be responsible for recognising and reporting clinical Incidents and near misses to support the culture of continuous learning and improvement. Attend regular team drop ins, clinical supervision and MDT meetings to discuss cases, manage clinical complexity, share knowledge, and address any emerging challenges. You will be experienced in identifying a broad range of mental health conditions and associated risks and/or safeguarding concerns and know when to seek support and escalate where necessary.
You will possess well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carer and other professional colleagues both within and outside of the organisation. To take responsibility for own continuous professional development, maintaining a sound level of professional knowledge and competence. You will triage referrals and manage patient queries in accordance with service protocols. You will deliver post-diagnostic ADHD focused psychoeducation to patients and contribute to the ongoing design of these programmes.
Essential skills and experience to succeed in this role. To succeed in the role, the successful candidate must be/have; A Registered Healthcare Professional (Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Advanced Clinical Practitioner). Have at least 5 years of experience in their discipline Be proficient in identifying and managing a wide range of mental health conditions Be experienced in the assessment of adults with suspected ADHD Willingness to learn and continually develop Evidence of, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Excellent communication skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
IT skills including the use of electronic patient records and MS Office products Excellent interpersonal skills Follow organisation policies, procedures and guidelines. Ability to work alongside others within a multi-disciplinary team setting. Professional approach consistent with regulatory body expectations Excellent time management and ability to manage own workload Desirable UKAAN or equivalent training
