The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have a opportunity to be part of this in the role of Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme Caseworker.

The Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP) was announced as part of the cross-cutting government strategy ‘Ending Rough Sleeping for Good’. SHAP is a funding programme under the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) with the aim of increasing the supply of good quality, specialist supported accommodation and housing-led approaches to address gaps in homelessness pathway provision.

Doncaster is looking for a case worker to deliver care and support to those accommodated within this project. The post will sit within the Doncaster Complex Lives Team, which is made up of dedicated front line case workers, providing capacity to identify, engage, triage, and provide a support plan with a focus on recovery, resettlement, empowerment, and inclusion.

The people which the team work with have a combination of mutually reinforcing challenges including homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, offending behaviour, mental ill health, poor physical health, including sex workers. People in these situations have often experienced childhood trauma, family breakdown, domestic abuse, and other major life changing events. The team works flexibly and provides personalised responses to individual strengths and needs – a strongly asset-based approach.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.

Please ensure you view the job summary and job profile as you will need to demonstrate in your application form how you meet the required criteria.

Shortlisting to be completed on the 26th June 2025.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on the 4th July 2025.

For further details or an informal chat, please contact: Nicola Milnes, Tel: 01302 737742, email [email protected].

If you require support with completing the application or with interview skills in general, please contact the Advance team via email [email protected] or visit their website www.advancedoncaster.co.uk for further details.

This post involves working with adults and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service check at an enhanced level. Further information about the Disclosure Scheme and can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check
