Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.
Base71 is part of the national OnSide network, which empowers young people across the UK through world-class youth work and inclusive opportunities.
We are looking for individuals to join our team from October 2025 to prepare for our grand opening in 2026.
The Opportunity
As a Sessional Youth Worker in Multi-Sports, you will play a vital role in the coaching and teaching of different sports to young people. You will be involved in planning, leading and delivering safe, fun and structured sports sessions within Base 71 Youth Zone, which are progressive and reflect the needs of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
· Plan and deliver a high-quality programme of activity that is exciting, safe, varied, innovative, developmental and directly responds to the diverse needs, concerns and interests of members.
· Be a role model to young people, fostering an environment where they feel confident and welcome.
· Encourage attendance and participation in activities, particularly by young people who do not usually participate in art.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Experience of delivering a wide range of sports or fitness sessions including events and competitions
- Experience in working with young people aged 8 to 19, or 25 with additional needs
- Ability to deliver high quality sports programme with children and young people
