Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

About The Team

The UX Research team includes customers in the development process, from early discovery all the way through to post-launch. We work with multiple stakeholder teams across the lifecycle to assure the customer experience is very well balanced with product monetization.

About The Role

Roku is looking for a Researcher to work primarily on customer sentiment surveys during the product A/B tests, as well as other quantitative research tasks. This role requires collaboration with multiple cross functional partners including Product Management, Data Analytics, Engineering, Design, and other researchers. This role provides the opportunity to work on projects that will be seen and enjoyed by millions of customers in a capacity that supports major decision-making on new products and features.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing, planning and executing research initiatives to explore and understand what impacts product and feature sentiment, most often in the context of experimental A/B tests.
  • Being an active collaborator on the design of experimental A/B tests
  • Working closely with a wide variety of Product Managers, Data Analysts, and others to identify the problems and business goals that your research will address
  • Collect and analyse user sentiment through surveys, and work with others to combine these findings with behavioural data, to inform product decisions
  • Effectively present research insights to diverse stakeholder audiences through written reports and live presentations
  • Understand and confidently communicate the strengths and weaknesses of different experimental designs, different research approaches and the findings of your research studies
  • Additionally, conduct other quantitative research to help Roku better understand the needs, pain points, and experience of customers (potentially involving ongoing tracker surveys).
  • Collaborate with fellow world-class user researchers internationally and the Director of UX Research.

We’re Excited If You Have

  • Proven skills with survey design, quantitative analysis, and experimental designs
  • Ability to effectively work with the wider business at Roku such as data analysts and other UX researchers to incorporate their data into cross-functional reporting and recommendations
  • Confidence to make recommendations to experiments being run by others
  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Persuasive presentation skills reporting both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to define, plan, and execute projects across a wide range of product areas
  • Ability to support timely communication and connection across multiple time zones
  • 5+ years of expertise as a consumer researcher in an industry setting
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in related field, such as Consumer Research, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Market Research
  • As a plus, experience running more advanced survey/analysis techniques such as Max Diff, Conjoint, etc.
  • An additional plus is experience with qualitative UX research methods, allowing you to work on other project types as needed.
  • A passion for researching and understanding people

The Roku Culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
