Who are Just?

We help people achieve a better later life. That’s our purpose and it’s the reason we exist. We are a fast-growing FTSE 250 company helping customers enjoy the retirement they deserve. We do this through a variety of market leading, award-winning products and services, delivered by a diverse team of over 1,400 purpose-led colleagues who genuinely put the customer at the heart of everything we do.

This is a brilliant time to join our business. We are on an exciting growth journey to become the UK’s most loved retirement expert.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our multidisciplinary, cross-functional, lean delivery squads, focused on rapidly delivering value to our customers through our mobile app and website.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience across different technologies and projects, combined with a desire to keep growing their skills – learning new languages, technologies and practices, solving tough problems and mastering areas you already know.

You’ll be comfortable designing and articulating solutions, working closely with product managers and other colleagues to ensure we’re delivering the right thing in the right way. You will lead by example; getting your hands dirty in the code, inspiring your peers & helping to educate your stakeholders.

You are passionate about the craft of software development and contribute to technical and non-technical discussions that help shape the direction of digital product delivery. You are able to work independently, as well as collaboratively, on user stories within an agile delivery environment and are versed in modern software delivery practices. You care about creating quality software that delivers value to consumers, in a thoughtfully pragmatic way.

As well as contributing to production-grade code bases, you will also be keen to help shape the vision for the product, happy to mentor and upskill colleagues

Key Responsibilities

  • Looking at quality holistically and throughout the software development process

  • Promoting lean approach to QA and focus on delivering maximum value with minimal effort

  • Adopting a risk-based approach to quality assurance

  • Supporting a continuous delivery approach

  • Advocating for simplicity in testing, approach, ways of working and tool choice

  • Collaborating with the Tech Lead on lean testing and release strategy balancing risk and speed of delivery

  • Assisting the team with support process and incident management

  • Pairing with other team members and encourage a focus on quality and observability in the team

  • Working closely with the Product Owner and Delivery Lead on prioritizing product features and uncovering edge cases

  • Managing the issue backlog and facilitating bug triage based on risk and impact

Your Experience

  • Proficiency in exploratory testing in a full-stack digital product and identifying good candidates for automation

  • Experience formulating a testing strategy comprising exploratory and automated testing

  • A demonstrable track record of improving QA process, testing often, early and in line with Lean principles

  • Experience in collaborating with Product-oriented peers on user-focussed solutions

  • Extensive experience operating within an Agile environment

  • Experience managing the release process for a product or suite of products

  • Champion user-focused QA, such as accessibility testing

  • Experience using monitoring and log management tools to identify issues in a live system

  • Experience with production incident management and post mortems

  • Non-functional experience including basic security, performance testing

  • Automated end-to-end and API testing tools and techniques

Company Benefits

  • A Competitive Salary, Pension Scheme and Life Assurance

  • Along with 25 Days Annual Leave plus an Additional Day on us for your Birthday

  • Private Medical Cover and Income Protection, just in case

  • A generous and highly achievable bonus scheme – paid annually based on individual and company performance against targets

  • Opportunity to progress within your career both in-role and within the company

  • FREE access to the Headspace App, a 24/7 Employee Assistance Helpline and Trained Physical & Mental Health First Aiders (On-Site)

  • A variety of Employee Funded Benefits available to you via our Online Benefits Portal

  • Plus, several additional purchase options available for you and your loved ones
