(This job description is written by Ryan, your future marketing colleague! 👋)
I’m looking to recruit our first dedicated designer for the marketing team at Modash.
Modash is a B2B software product, primarily used by marketers at ecommerce companies to run their influencer programs.
Until now, the marketing team has relied on design resources that are either:
a) Borrowed from (or shared with) the Product team
b) Outsourced / freelance
This has worked beautifully, and I’m proud of Modash’s visual identity.
That said, the time is right to add a dedicated, full-time, in-house designer for our team.
The marketing team is bigger. There are more people, more projects, more design requirements.
As we scale I want to make sure that everything we do is outstanding, and memorable. To do that, while still moving fast and avoiding bottlenecks, we need a dedicated designer in our team.
The person in this role will also be supported by my colleague Pavel. He is the creative brain behind our current branding. Pavel will continue to be responsible for the high-level brand identity & design system, but step away from day-to-day execution of marketing design tasks.
What your day-to-day might look like
This gig will be quite varied. We’re looking for someone who is capable of executing excellent, distinctive design work across lots of different formats. Here are some examples of the marketing design requirements we’ve had recently, to give you an idea:
1. We have a programmatic SEO program, with thousands of pages like this. We needed to rethink how we display data in the "results cards" of those pages. With the goal of being maximally useful to the user, and increasing conversion rate from visit to trial.
2. We run dozens of animated LinkedIn ads like this one. Design input at the storyboard stage is important to make sure the product UI & workflow is as easy as possible to digest.
3. There are constantly design requirements related to our website. From layouts, to product imagery. One example here, but you’ll get the idea quickly from browsing around our website.
4. We put out video content, like this product launch video, or this YouTube ad. Design input is often important on how we think about post-production edits, overlays, etc.
5. We publish long-form written content on our blog. There are regular design requirements related to thumbnails, and occasionally in-article visuals.
(This is non-exhaustive!)
And a little more about us...
Founded by a high-school dropout and a Canadian (yes, we’re also shocked it’s going so well), our mission is to help every creator earn a living. We believe that the world doesn’t need giant media organizations to tell every story. It needs millions of creators, independent voices who bring weird, wonderful stories to life online.
We’re in a very strong position financially. Modash is backed by some of the top investors in Europe including our $12M Series A backed by HenQ.
We’re a small team and we’re just getting started. You’ll work with unique, hard-working people who have done everything from building solar cars and winning math olympiads to hanging out with Metallica and Bon Jovi.
Requirements
This is what I imagine an ideal candidate to be like:
- You have experience in working with marketing teams in early-stage B2B SaaS companies.
- You have a range of design experience across web, ads, social, print, and more.
- If you don’t have experience in something, you figure it out and crush it anyway.
- You thrive on giving and receiving feedback, so we can make each other better.
- You’re comfortable juggling lots of competing (and often shifting) priorities.
- You excel in a remote, async environment -— but know when to hit “Huddle” to unblock something.
- You make decisions fast, and execute quickly.
- You are a strong writer and communicator.
- You aspire to do great work.
Product UX/UI design is not essential, but it is a bonus.
If you meet most (but not all) of the above criteria, don’t let that stop you from applying.
Benefits
The budgeted salary for this role is €55,000 - €80,000. Stock options are also on offer.
Also:
- Unlimited paid vacation time. If you’re happy & well-rested, you’ll do better work. Take the time you need to enjoy a balanced life.
- Flexible working hours. We trust you to do your job, without anyone looking over your shoulder. Do your best work whenever it suits you.
- Fully remote working. As long as you have a reliable internet connection, we want you to work wherever is best for you. At home, in a café, on a beach. Whatever works.
- Personal development. When you grow, we benefit. If there’s a course, book, or conference that will help you upskill – we’ll cover it.
- Annual team offsites. At least once per year, we get the full team together somewhere sunny. Check out our 2024 trip to Croatia!
