A bit about the role
We’re working with one of the UK’s leading product-focused tech companies to find a Senior Design System & Accessibility Designer who’s passionate about building inclusive, scalable digital experiences.
This is a central role in a growing design systems team, where you’ll help shape the future of accessible design components across Web, iOS, and Android.
You’ll play a key part in ensuring their products meet the highest standards of accessibility – including WCAG 2.2, W3C best practices, and the upcoming European Accessibility Act (EAA).
It’s a hands-on design systems role, but with a strong accessibility lens. You’ll collaborate with designers, engineers, and product folks to build beautiful, functional components that work for everyone – including users of assistive tech.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing and maintaining accessible components for Android, iOS, and Web platforms
- Translating UX/UI intent into scalable, assistive technology-friendly design system components
- Reviewing visual designs and coded components to ensure accessibility (keyboard nav, screen readers, etc.)
- Working closely with engineers to ensure components are practical, scalable, and inclusive
- Helping govern and evolve a token-based design system with accessibility at its core
- Advocating for inclusive design best practices and contributing to internal education efforts
- Partnering with senior designers and accessibility leads to embed accessibility throughout the product ecosystem
- Supporting accessibility compliance efforts for EAA and other global standards
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience in component-level design and working within design systems (beyond just Figma)
- Solid hands-on knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 and inclusive design principles
- Confident working with semantic HTML, ARIA, accessible design tokens, and real-world assistive tech (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, keyboard-only navigation, etc.)
- Familiar with React and native mobile frameworks (iOS/Android), and able to collaborate well with engineers
- Experience with component lifecycle and design system tooling (e.g. Supernova, or similar)
- Up-to-date understanding of accessibility legislation – particularly EAA
- Bonus points if you also have:
- Experience in the fintech or payments sector
- 5+ years in product design with a strong system thinking approach
- Prior involvement in accessibility audits, reviews, or training
Why join?
This is your chance to shape how accessibility and design systems come together in a fast-moving, product-led tech environment. You’ll be part of a supportive, talented team working on meaningful, large-scale challenges that impact real users.
You’ll be helping to build products that are beautiful and inclusive – for everyone.
