SEN Nanny for 4-Year-Old Boy with Autism (Pre-Verbal)
Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Nanny to provide one-on-one care and support for our 4-year-old son, who is pre-verbal and has been diagnosed with autism. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a wonderful child, supporting his development and helping him reach his full potential in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive, patient, and loving care tailored to the needs of a child with autism.
- Plan and engage in stimulating, child-centered activities to encourage communication, social skills, and emotional development.
- Implement strategies to support non-verbal communication, such as using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Makaton, or other augmentative tools.
- Follow and reinforce any therapies or intervention plans provided by specialists, such as speech and occupational therapists.
- Assist with daily routines, including meals, personal hygiene, and bedtime.
- Ensure a safe and structured environment at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the parents to ensure consistency in care and approach.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs (SEN).
- Knowledge of strategies and tools to support non-verbal communication.
- Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanor in challenging situations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to the child’s needs.
- Relevant qualifications in childcare, SEN support, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
- DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) and excellent references.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 10 AM – 5 PM. Saturdays maybe required.
Location:
- The role will be split between the family’s home in Solihull and their office in Birmingham.
