The community

Within the engineering community at Leonardo, our mission is simple: "Deliver new features and enhancements quickly and continuously to keep our operators safe."

That means we need to develop features, gather data, diagnose problems and deploy updates as quickly as possible. As a Scrum Master, you'll understand the value you deliver to our customers and how important that is to mission success.

We want to build a community of world-class engineers who will continuously improve, collaborate and innovate with other engineers to create market-leading products.

We've got big aspirations for our engineering scrum teams at Leonardo, and you could join us on this amazing journey.

If you have the desire to apply your experiences, expand your skills and learn more, then we want to speak to you!

What you will do

  • You'll join a creative team developing solutions for new and existing platforms.
  • You’ll facilitate Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, retrospectives and reviews/demos).
  • You’ll be part of Program Increment planning.
  • You’ll be responsible for collation of flow metrics.
  • You'll be mentoring, coaching and teaching engineers as an expert in scrum and agile best practices.
  • You'll be collaborating with your Product Owner and the development team to shape the product vision and roadmap.
  • You'll be supported to develop your skills, reach your goals and become better every day.
  • You’ll be the Servant Leader for the development team.
  • Depending on your level of experience you may lead our Scrum Master Community and coach/mentor a number of other Scrum Masters.
  • Depending on your project you may present the development team status at Agile Release Train sync meetings to the Release Train Engineer and other scrum teams.

What we are looking for

We realise that the “perfect candidate” doesn’t exist. The only skill we need you to have is experience in a project management role, ideally with as a Scrum Master, but this may not be essential for the right candidate, even if not within defence.

Demonstrable experience in the following areas will help you stand out:

  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Knowledge of the SAFe framework
  • Experience as a Scrum Master in a larger scale project
  • Knowledge of flow framework and metrics
  • Continuous improvement
  • Establishing high performing agile teams

Personal attributes and values are just as important to us as technical ability

We need you to:

Show a sense of Community: You'll embed yourself within our community, and value the progress all teams make. You'll want to help others

Be Adaptable: You'll be adaptable to the evolving challenges our community face

Be Curious: You'll be an avid learner and stretch yourself to deliver on our aspiring mission

Show Radical Candor: You'll care personally and challenge directly

Be Passionate: You'll show passion and purpose to succeed in our mission

Be Pragmatic: You'll make pragmatic choices to strengthen our community and achieve our mission

Due to the nature of our work, you must be capable of achieving full SC security clearance and will require access to caveated information such as UK eyes only. For more information on SC, please see the gov.uk website.
