At Bupa, we're here to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives - and make a better world. As a global healthcare leader with no shareholders, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. That means we reinvest profits into better care, better experiences, and better outcomes.
This role is a key part of that mission. As Head of Actuarial Reporting & Capital, you'll lead the actuarial reporting and capital agenda for Bupa Insurance Services Limited (BISL) and Bupa Insurance Limited (BINS), helping us maintain strong financial foundations and deliver on our promise to customers. Key responsibilities
As Head of Actuarial Reporting & Capital , you'll:
- Lead the delivery of Solvency II and IFRS17 technical provisions for BINS and the Bupa Global Insurance UK (BGIUK) Market Unit.
- Set and maintain methodologies, processes, and controls for actuarial reporting, including risk margin, best estimate assumptions, and data validation.
- Oversee the calculation and monitoring of regulatory capital requirements, including the Standard Formula and Economic Capital Model.
- Provide actuarial insights and reports to senior stakeholders, including Board Committees and the Group Actuarial team.
- Review and consolidate regulatory submissions and internal reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support the Chief Actuary in forming opinions and deputise in key governance forums when needed.
- Build strong relationships across actuarial, finance, and commercial teams to ensure alignment and data integrity.
- Mentor and support junior team members, helping to build a high-performing and inclusive actuarial community.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills. You'll need to be:
- A qualified actuary with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience.
- A member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent).
- Experienced in Solvency II, IFRS17, and capital modelling - ideally within health, life, or general insurance.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of risk, regulation, and business strategy.
- A confident communicator who can explain complex ideas clearly and simply.
- A collaborative leader who supports others and helps teams thrive.
- Adaptable and proactive, with a track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments.
- Experience with vendor reserving software and working in multinational or complex organisations is a plus.
