As Revenue & Benefits System Support Officer, you will support the Revenues and Benefits Service, ensuring efficient operation and alignment with business objectives.

Your role encompasses diagnosing and resolving system issues, enhancing service delivery, and maintaining legislative compliance. You will also facilitate continuous improvement through effective communication and collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.

What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Revenues and Benefits Systems Support team and provide assistance in supporting all operational functions within the Revenues and Benefits Service in order to meet Business objectives as determined within the Service and Operational Plans.

Main work duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Providing specialised support in relation to the IT systems used by the Revenues & Benefits service and its customers. This includes running business processes to ensure that all areas of the system remain operational.
  • Test new functionality of all systems within Revenues & Benefits.
  • Ensure that all system issues are investigated and if necessary, logged with the relevant support provider, tracked, diagnosed, and resolved or escalated.
  • Conduct audit checks on daily batch processes, output and financial reconciliation and liaise with the relevant support provider to ensure any issues are resolved as soon as possible.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge of legislation such as Benefits, Council Tax and Business Rates.

Ideally the successful candidate will have specialist knowledge of Housing Benefits.

You must have excellent IT skills and be able to communicate at different levels. You must be organised, self-motivated and can problem solve and analyse complex data. As well as using your own initiative, you'll be able to work well as part of a team. Working accurately and meeting deadlines and targets, you'll have a willingness to learn new skills, and be flexible to meet team needs.
