The Falmouth Hotel is one of Cornwall’s best located hotels situated opposite Castle Beach with a spectacular view over the Falmouth Bay! The hotel consists of over 71 bedrooms forming different individual styles and views, along with our Castle View Restaurant & Bar, Leisure & Spa Facilities with indoor swimming pool along various events spaces which accommodates meetings, weddings and events. The hotel following a recent takeover is now part of The Cornwall Hotel Collection and operates alongside The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth and The Alverton Hotel in Truro.
Now under local ownership after 20 years we are working hard to develop the hotel and as such a development plan for The Falmouth Hotel new chapter is very much underway, with this in mind and with the growth and development of the business we are now looking for hospitality individuals to join us on our journey as we embark on our new beginnings. As part of our recruitment plans we are now looking to recruit Restaurant Supervisor on a full time basis working to the needs of the business reporting to our Food & Beverage Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for a individual to join the hotel in what is a very exciting time for the business.
The position involves late nights and weekends and also due to the nature of the business will be required to work during peak seasonal holidays.
About the role
Join our team as a Restaurant Supervisor within our Castle View Restaurant at The Falmouth Hotel, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our restaurant. You will assist the management team in maintaining high service standards to a 4 star standard, training new staff, and managing day-to-day activities. In the absence of the management team, you will take charge, overseeing service, handling customer complaints, and coordinating with the kitchen team to deliver an exceptional dining experience. Your excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure will contribute to creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests.
Your main responsibilities will include
· Assisting the management team in the daily operations of the restaurant.
· Managing the restaurant operation and team during your shift.
. Working in collaboration with the food runners for efficient food service.
· Ensuring consistent high levels of customer service.
· Training new employees and enhancing the skills of existing staff.
· Overseeing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
· Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
· Conducting regular stock takes for cutlery, crockery, and glasses.
· Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Training, Risk Assessment, and COSHH requirements.
· Handling customer complaints and effectively communicating details to the Duty Manager.
· Collaborating with the Head Chef & kitchen team to ensure efficient service.
· Managing table plans, taking orders, and overseeing smooth service during lunch and dinner.
· Delegating tasks to staff for an effective restaurant operation.
· Ensuring proper billing for supplementary food and extra guest meals.
· Keeping records of breakages and minimizing their occurrence.
. Additional duties as per the request of the management team.
About you
You are a dedicated and motivated individual with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. With previous supervisory experience in a busy hotel restaurant, you possess excellent communication and leadership skills. You are a team player with a high level of initiative, well-presented, and attentive to personal grooming and hygiene. Your strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure make you adept at handling challenging situations, such as customer complaints. You are proactive, punctual, and possess good training skills, ready to influence your team positively and ensure a consistently high standard of service for our guests.
