The Amber Foundation offers supported accommodation to homeless, unemployed and disadvantaged young people (aged 18 to 30) who are facing multiple disadvantage including lack of training, education and employment, addiction and substance misuse problems, mental health difficulties and may have been involved in crime and offending behaviour.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Youth Worker to join our team.
Responsible to - Senior Team Leader and Service Manager
Hours of Work - Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm + one overnight shift per month + on-call responsibility (1/5 weeks) (included in the salary)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £28,436.76 per annum, ( includes sleep in allowance for the overnight shift per month of £480 per annum)
As a Residential Youth Worker, you play a crucial role in positively impacting the lives of young individuals by providing them with the support, guidance, and resources they need to succeed. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate our programme and curriculum to young people, including those with complex needs. Responsibilities:
- Educate and mentor young people with complex needs
- Develop and implement education, training and employment activities and programmes
- Provide guidance and support to young people in their personal growth and development
- Assist and support young people to access and engage with support and ETE opportunities
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment for young people to thrive
- Collaborate with parents, referrers and other professionals to ensure the well-being of the young person
- Monitor and assess the progress of each young person
- Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and observations
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people and/or complex needs, preferably in a residential setting
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and child/youth development theories
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, trusting and respectful relationships with young people
- Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of each young person
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
The role of the Residential Youth Worker is to manage a caseload and team of 8 to 10 young people and to deliver a programme of group workshops and activity both internally and with external services and providers each week that centres around our four key outcome areas as follows:
- Education, training and employment activities
- Health and wellbeing activities
- Independent living activities
- Having fun and engaging with communities
The Youth Leader is also responsible for case management, including monthly one-to-one sessions with their young people and action planning with them to ensure that both their support needs are met and their hopes, aspirations and ambitions for the future are also captured.
