Bluebells Short Breaks Service provides residential short breaks for children and young people within the Walsall area. We have a longstanding reputation for providing quality care and support to children with additional needs from its purpose-built facility located within Walsall. We currently have opportunities for the right people to join our established team of residential childcare workers. Successful candidates will join a team focused on making a huge difference to the lives of children and young people who use the service.

  • Do you have experience of working with children either within a residential short breaks setting or have other relevant or transferable experience working with children and young people?
  • Are you a patient and nurturing child focused individual who can give attention to detail?
  • Do you have a clear and robust safeguarding approach?
  • Can you bring a sense of fun, energy and creativity to building and maintaining meaningful and longstanding relationships with children and their families?

As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will be ambitious for young people’s development and have a clear focus on your role in nurturing and supporting children's true potential. You will work directly with children and young people in meeting all of their care needs during their short break stays and you will be required to develop, build and maintain excellent relationships with not only children and young people but also parents, carers and the wider professional network.

The Bluebells service operates from Thursday afternoon through to Monday afternoon. Residential care staff are required to undertake a range of shifts covering mornings, daytime and evenings. Bluebells operates during school holidays and Public Bank Holidays. (Overnight sleep in duties are also required on occasions).
