About The Role

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive support worker to provide consistent weekday support to a 9-year-old boy with cerebral palsy (CP) and an acquired brain injury (ABI). This is a rewarding role where you’ll play a meaningful part in his daily life, supporting him both at home and in the community.

The client is a happy, sociable young boy who absolutely loves the outdoors. He enjoys trips to the park, swimming, animals, fairgrounds, and anything that gets him out and about. At home, he likes books, puppets, Peppa Pig, and rugby. He communicates using sign language, a Grid Pad, and his own unique signs, he loves engaging with people.

Your support will involve helping with his morning and evening routines during school term time, and full-day care during school holidays. A typical afternoon may include picking him up from school, preparing his tea, supporting him with feeding, changing, and personal care, then enjoying playtime, films, or relaxing at home. In the holidays, you’ll support him with fun day trips and activities, ensuring his needs are met throughout the day.

The client is not mobile and uses a wheelchair outside the home and a hoist is being sourced to support his care further. He requires full personal care, including bathing, dressing, and continence support, and will need assistance with medication. He has no behavioural concerns. The family home is fully adapted for his needs, and he lives with his mum and dad. Please note there are two friendly dogs in the home.

Your main attributes will be friendly, approachable and have empathy towards your client treating them with respect and dignity at all times. We support vulnerable people to live as independently as possible, by building their confidence and skills to realise their potential.
