About the role

North Northamptonshire Council are recruiting Waste Collection Operatives in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough.

You will need to be physically fit and able to work in all weathers. A good level of safety awareness is needed as you will be working with heavy machinery on busy roads.

What will you be doing?
  • Collecting refuse and recycling containers from residential and commercial properties
  • Walking around 14 miles a day
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Assisting the driver where necessary to safely move the collection vehicle
  • Following strict health and safety practices
  • Answering questions from the public about the refuse and recycling services
  • Carrying out additional duties where required.
About you

You must be a reliable person with a good attitude, who can work well in a team.

Able to walk long distances in all weather conditions, you will need to be physically able to move containers to and from the collection vehicle.

A good level of safety awareness is essential and you will need good road sense.

As you will be a front facing member of staff good communication skills are needed, as well as a flexible approach to work in order to deliver the service needed to the public.

Local knowledge and experience of refuse and recycling practices is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
