You will be part of the Central Services or Service Delivery team, leading both front of house reception services and a structured volunteer employment pathway. This role is responsible for creating a professional, welcoming reception experience while supporting individuals, especially those with barriers to employment, through volunteer placements across internal departments. You will coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of volunteers, ensuring smooth integration and development toward long-term employment opportunities.
(1) Key Deliverables
Reception Duties:
- Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Managing incoming calls, emails, and correspondence.
- Maintaining a tidy and accessible reception area.
- Managing visitor logs and security protocols.
- Supporting room bookings and internal meeting logistics.
Volunteer Pathway Coordination:
- Designing and delivering a volunteer pathway programme for individuals returning to employment.
- Recruiting and onboarding volunteers with a focus on those who have been out of work.
- Collaborating with internal departments to identify placement opportunities and role specifications.
- Providing induction and training support for volunteers.
- Offering ongoing supervision, coaching, and check-ins throughout placements.
- Monitoring and evaluating volunteer progression with clear pathways to employment.
- Maintaining accurate volunteer records, ensuring safeguarding and compliance standards.
- Working closely with the People Team and departmental leads to ensure seamless integration and support.
Operational & Administrative Support:
- Supporting departmental teams in coordinating volunteer schedules and placement logistics.
- Helping track and reporting on volunteer metrics and pathway outcomes.
- Assisting in organising volunteer events, recognition, and engagement activities.
General:
- Contributing towards a positive workplace culture
- Ensuring that confidentiality and security of information is maintained in accordance with our Confidentiality, Data Protection, IT and Security policies. Promoting sustainable working practices and reducing the environmental impact of St Giles work.

(2) Knowledge & Experience
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
- Experience managing reception or front-of-house responsibilities
- Experience recruiting, training, or managing volunteers
- Experience supporting people with barriers to employment
- Relevant experience in administration, HR, or volunteer management
- Understanding of barriers to employment and trauma-informed support
- Understanding of GDPR and data protection
- Understanding of safeguarding practices
- Understanding of EDI and creating an inclusive work culture
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Organised and detail-oriented with strong time management
- Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Empathetic and encouraging approach to support volunteer development
- Ability to work flexibly and independently
- Data entry and analysis skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
