Responsibilities
- Offer clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based care for adults experiencing a range of mental health conditions.
- Perform psychiatric assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and risk assessments, creating comprehensive and personalised management plans for service users.
- Prescribe and oversee treatment plans, including psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate in developing and implementing user-centred care pathways, ensuring service users and families are involved in all aspects of decision-making.
- Actively promote mental health awareness and work to reduce stigma through education and community engagement.
- Mentor and supervise junior medical staff, trainees, and team members, fostering continuous learning and collaborative teamwork.
- Ensure adherence to relevant legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including Mental Health Act frameworks.
- Contribute to service development initiatives, clinical governance activities, and quality improvement projects.
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide expert crisis intervention when required.
Qualifications
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent).
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Psychiatry (General Adult) or eligibility within six months of CCT at the time of appointment.
- Proven experience in managing a broad range of adult mental health conditions in various clinical settings.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion in clinical practice, as well as team collaboration.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with service users, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership, decision-making, and team-building abilities.
- Working knowledge of UK mental health legislation, safeguarding principles, and ethical frameworks.
- Evidence of continual professional development and participation in research or clinical audits is desirable.
Day-to-day
- Conduct initial and follow-up consultations to diagnose and provide evidence-based interventions for mental health conditions.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to deliver integrated care plans.
- Attend and contribute to case discussions, team meetings, and handovers to maintain continuity of care.
- Represent the service in liaising with external partners such as GPs, community organisations, and other healthcare providers.
- Provide supervision and lead training sessions for junior doctors and other team members.
- Engage in reflective practice, professional development activities, and peer reviews to enhance clinical expertise.
- Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and consultations with families.
- Respond to urgent referrals and provide expert guidance during crisis scenarios.

Pay: £109,725.00-£145,478.00 per year
