Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for garment construction and alteration, demonstrating expertise in both hand and machine sewing techniques. As a Tailor, you will be responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments to meet customer specifications while ensuring high-quality craftsmanship.
Duties
- Measure clients accurately to determine the appropriate fit for garments.
- Cut fabric according to patterns or specifications, ensuring precision in each piece.
- Sew garments using various techniques, including hand stitching and machine sewing.
- Alter existing clothing items to improve fit or style based on client requests.
- Repair damaged garments by replacing zippers, buttons, or other components as needed.
- Maintain an organised workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are kept in good condition.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their needs and preferences.
- Stay updated on current fashion trends and tailoring techniques to enhance skills.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tailor or in a similar role within the garment industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in sewing techniques, both hand and machine-based.
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for colour matching and fabric selection.
- Excellent measuring skills to ensure precise fittings.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Knowledge of various fabrics and their properties is advantageous.
- A creative mindset with problem-solving abilities when faced with alterations or repairs.
