Press Brake Operator – Skilled Programmer/Setter
Full-time | 4-day week | Based in Elland, West Yorkshire
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced and capable Press Brake Operator to join our busy production team. This is a skilled position requiring the ability to program, set, and operate CNC Press Brake machinery independently.
We operate a 4-day working week:
Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:15pm, with overtime frequently available on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and set up CNC Press Brake machines based on technical drawings and work orders.
- Operate the press brake safely and efficiently to bend metal parts to precise tolerances.
- Conduct in-process inspections to ensure dimensional accuracy and finished quality.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and bend allowances, adjusting programs as necessary.
- Work with a range of materials (mild steel, stainless, aluminium) in various thicknesses.
- Collaborate with colleagues in production, design, and quality to meet daily schedules.
- Perform basic maintenance and upkeep of the press brake equipment.
- Assist with improvements to tooling setups and bending processes where appropriate.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience operating and programming CNC Press Brakes (Amada or similar preferred).
- Strong understanding of bend sequences, tooling selection, and material behaviour during forming.
- Confident reading and interpreting technical and engineering drawings.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of jobs, and maintain high standards of quality control.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple priorities.
- A proactive and flexible attitude, with good communication and teamwork skills.
