As Portfolio Lead Science – Business Unit you will lead the capacity planning, prioritisation, deconfliction, integration for the total Order Book for the Business Unit. Leading the measurement and reporting for the Business Unit and delivering on behalf of the Business Unit a portfolio of low to medium complexity projects to enhance Business Unit capability.
Key Accountabilities:
- Accountable for managing, leading, coaching and developing the team and holding them accountable for the engagement, development, performance and retention of their teams
- Provides the overall integrated master schedule control for a Business Unit, aggregating and managing demand over the short, medium and long term, which incorporates balancing multiple requirements (e.g. maintenance, capital works) to ensure we deliver to customer requirements.
- Provides key Business Unit reporting and management information and is the key interface to PMO Warhead / Infrastructure / Transformation programmes for overarching Business Unit capacity planning / prioritisation / deconfliction / integration
- Provides subject matter expertise into the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process
- Oversees and drives the financial performance of the Business Unit on behalf of the General Manager, including the identification of efficiencies
- Identifies and articulates key risks and mitigations
- Additional accountabilities may be identified over time and will be discussed with the role holder in line with the business need
- Delivering on behalf of the Business Unit a portfolio of low to medium complexity projects to enhance Business Unit capability
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading and developing the order book for the business unit to ensure the Business Unit has the capacity to delivery to programme requirements
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual planning reviews in support of the agreed Business Plan and agreed business strategy
- Identify and use business modelling techniques – conducting and/or facilitating “what-if “analysis to create alternative scenarios for reconciling demand, supply and financial plans
- Work with programme teams to establish clear demand signals for business capacity
- Work with functional teams to supply solutions to meet the business capacity including development and maintenance of Make / Team / Buy strategies
- Facilitate senior level decision making to balance both supply and demand
- Analysis of information and learnings from the product, demand, supply and finance reviews. Work with the cross functional team to review, align, and identify gaps or disparities. Create strategies for negotiating these challenges and the potential financial or operational implications of any change
To be considered for this opportunity, you’ll need the following:
- A broad understanding of the regulatory environment
- Degree educated or similar attainment level demonstrated through experience
- Deep knowledge in planning processes e.g. demand planning, supply planning
- Leadership of and collaboration with large and diverse teams
- Proven experience in implementing and continuous improvement of operations planning processes
- Management and interpretation of operational performance information
- Knowledge and experience of enterprise ERP/ MRP / P3M systems and SAP
- Experience of developing KPIs that reflect the strategic goals, operational health and effectiveness of a diverse portfolio of both project and operational delivery
- Proven experience of managing a wide portfolio of complex and inter-related activities over the long, medium and short term
