About the Role
We’re seeking a qualified and experienced Plumber to join our mobile property services team. This role is primarily plumbing-focused, with general handyman and maintenance duties when not attending to plumbing work.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining supported housing accommodation across our portfolio — ensuring properties remain safe, comfortable, and compliant for residents. You'll work independently across multiple sites and must be confident diagnosing and resolving issues.
This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft and enjoys a mix of routine and reactive work.
Key Responsibilities
Primary duties – Plumbing:
- Carry out responsive plumbing repairs, including leaks, blockages, and replacements
- Diagnose and repair issues with pipework, valves, radiators, taps, toilets, sinks, and drainage
- Install or replace plumbing fittings and fixtures as required
- Conduct checks related to plumbing systems as part of void property works
- Support with occasional emergency plumbing callouts (if introduced)
Secondary duties – Handyman/General Maintenance (when not on plumbing jobs):
- General maintenance including painting, basic joinery, tiling, or minor repairs
- Basic gardening, jet washing, window cleaning, and pest control tasks
- Cleaning of void properties and communal areas
- Health and safety checks and reporting
- Supporting the team with ad-hoc duties as required
Work Style
This is a field-based, mobile role. You’ll travel between EHSL properties throughout the day and begin/end your day from home. You’ll receive tasks and updates via EHSL’s digital systems and work closely with our housing and maintenance team.
About You
You are a fully qualified plumber who takes pride in completing work to a high standard. You're organised, proactive, and confident in managing your own workload — happy to switch between plumbing tasks and general maintenance as needed.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience in domestic/residential plumbing
- Comfortable undertaking basic handyman/maintenance tasks
- Fluent in English (spoken, written, and read)
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Respectful, professional, and reliable
Why Join EHSL?
- Competitive salary: £36,000 per year
- Birthday leave and additional long-service leave
- Accredited Living Wage Employer
- Meaningful work improving lives through safe, well-maintained homes
- Opportunities to grow within a supportive and expanding team
